Using the arts to deepen meaning and engage learners in your classroom. Participants will learn a variety of techniques that work well in Jewish classrooms where time and budget constraints can be challenging. We will explore illustrated midrash techniques, micrography for teaching prayer, vision boarding, collage and more. KickStart 5777 Intensive Workshop - 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Julie Wohl is a Jewish educator and a visual artist. She received her Master’s Degree in Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary before working in a variety of synagogue, communal and camp settings. She is the co-author and illustrator of Siddur Mah Tov (Behrman House, 2010) and the illustrator of Simply Seder, a Family Haggadah (Behrman House, 2011). She was a curriculum writer for Etgar Yesodi, a national religious school curriculum created through the Melton Research Center at JTS. She currently works as the education director at Congregation Brit Shalom in State College, Pa (Go Penn State!) and is a member of the teaching staff at Camp Ramah in the Berkshires. Julie is the founder and lead educator of Jewish Learning Thru Art, a traveling Creative Arts Beit Midrash. She lives, works, paints and plays in Central Pennsylvania with her husband and two sons.
