Fun and Effective Approaches to Hebrew Prayer Mastery: This class will explore ways that teachers can motivate students to achieve the most out of their Hebrew School experience. Games, motivational, and incentive strategies will be presented and discussed. This session will also focus on differentiated instruction and how to optimize learning in the short amount of time that we have to teach. This session is appropriate for Hebrew school teachers.
Rabbi Debbie Helbraun was ordained from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1993. She has a bachelor's degree in elementary education with minors in Jewish and Near Eastern Studies and Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis and a master's degree in Hebrew Letters from Hebrew Union College. Rabbi Helbraun has worked in a variety of capacities for the Jewish community for over 20 years, including in religious and Hebrew school, chaplaincy, youth work, adult education, b'nai mitzvah tutoring, social action programming and a variety of other congregational and rabbinic responsibilities, including Hebrew School Principal at Congregation BJBE from 1999 to 2003. Her current position is as Hebrew School Principal of Temple Jeremiah in Northfield, IL. She grew up in Northbrook, IL and continues to live there with her husband, Rabbi Sidney Helbraun, and their children Becca, 16, and Jonah, 13.
